Herculane Climbing Open 2012

Herculane Climbing Open will see this year its 11th edition and will celebrate 11 years of sportclimbing developement in the Cerna Valley. After the first 10 editions we thought that this was the end of HCO out of lack of enthusiasm on our side to organize it again, but it turns out that we have found the strength to put up edition no. 11. We found our motivation in your interest for the event, in the support of our traditional sponsors who offered to support before we even asked, and of course in the new routes that will remain in Herculane for us to climb from now on.

After 10 years, this year we want to try a new approach on one part of the competition. There will be the same three competition categories, two for the boys and one for the girls. The categories Girls and Masters stay the same but the Open category for the boys will have a less competitive character. This means that we will put up a ranking for the Open category , and we will award the first three places with simbolic prizes and diplomas, the rest of the prize-pool for this category will be offered trough a raffle to participants in this category. Since the girls don't have aMasters category of their own, we will offer some extra prizes trough the same raffle also for the girls, besides of the prizes for the first three comeptitiors.

We hope that this approach will encourage you to sign up for this year's HCO even if you will not reach a place on the podium, and it will still keep a real fight for prizes in the Masters and Girls  categories.
